Pencil Story…

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the
box. “There are 5 things you need to know,” he told the pencil, “Before I
send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and
you will become the best pencil you can be.”

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow
yourself to be held in Someone’s hand.”

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but
you’ll need it to become a better pencil.”

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.”

Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s inside.”

And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No
matter what the condition, you must continue to write.”

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with
purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and
never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow
yourself to be held in God’s hand. And allow other human beings to access
you for the many gifts you possess.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going
through various problems, but you’ll need it to become a stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s on the inside.

And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No
matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

By understanding and remembering, let us proceed with our life on this
earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart.

Continuous Creation…

Continuous Creation
by Abby Kelly

I started off to wonder,
How the trees and skies were made.
How shadows follow fingers
And butterflies parade,
Round roses, daisies, buttercups
And only for a season,
Then disappear, to come next year
With hardly any reason.

How the breeze can be so winsome
And terrify me too.
One night’s sky an angry yellow,
The next one, navy blue.

How can my face be worn and lined?
The skin once baby-smooth and fine.
How can my one same spirit
Live inside an aged frame?
My one same spirit
Growing through the change?

Perhaps it’s not that creation was
It wasn’t yesterday.
Maybe God still speaks life,
And and breathes souls
Today and everyday.

I chased these thoughts throughout the day,
And took them last to Scripture.

“Lord,” I said, “I don’t understand
“How all these things can be.
You made earth once, but I still see
Your hand in everything.”

“Daughter,” Abba slow replied,
“The world spins within my hand.
And every breath that’s taken,
Yes, those are all mine too.
Yes, I once created,
But I’m always making new.”

Revelation 21:5 “And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

Amos 4:13 “For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought, who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth
the LORD, the God of hosts, is his name!”

God The Perfect Father

A king who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a slave who, in all circumstances, said: “My king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect, no mistakes!”

One day they went hunting and along the way a wild animal attacked the king. His slave managed to kill the animal, but could not prevent his majesty losing a finger.

Furious and without showing his gratitude for being saved, the nobleman said “Is God good? If He was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger.” The slave replied: “My king, despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good, and he knows “why” of all these things. What God does is perfect. He is never wrong!” Outraged by the response, the king ordered the arrest of his slave.

Later, he left for another hunt and was captured by savages who made human sacrifices. In the altar, ready to sacrifice the nobleman, the savages found that the victim had not one of his fingers, so he was released. According to them, it was not so complete to be offered to the gods.

Upon his return to the palace, he authorized the release of his slave that he received very affectionately. “My dear, God was really good to me! I was almost killed by the wild men, but for lack of a single finger, I was let go! But I have a question: if God is so good, why did he allow me to put you in jail?”

The slave replied: “My King, if I had gone with you in this hunt, I would have been sacrificed for you, because I have no missing finger, therefore, remember everything God does is perfect. He is never wrong.”

Often we complain about life, and negative things that happen to us, forgetting that nothing is random and that everything has a purpose. Every morning, offer your day to God, don’t be in a rush. God is the perfect father.

Ask God to inspire your thoughts, guide your actions, and ease your feelings. And do not be afraid. God is never wrong! You know why this message is for you? I do not know, but God knows, because he never makes mistakes. He is the perfect father and He uses imperfect people.

The path of God and his word is perfect, without impurities. He is the way of all those who trust in Him.

Let This Be The Night

The temple gate opens,
My heart embraces the restorative power of the first rains of Your grace,
My tears flow without ceasing – not from pain but from joy,
I realize that in You is where I must be.
Into my heart Your word enters,
Darkness within me is dispelled and light is brought forth,
I cast myself down at Your feet.
As I seek Your presence and restoring grace,
My soul cries out – Let this be the night oh Lord! Let this be the night.

The loneliness within me is ousted,
Rancor is replaced with love,
The malice that consumes me becomes kindness,
I praise and adore You from the depths of my heart.
As I marvel in awe at Your awesome might,
My soul cries out- Let this be the night oh Lord! Let this be the night.

I realize that You are bigger than what people say,
I acknowledge You in all my ways,
My fear about tomorrow is expelled,
And hope is renewed within me.
I see the road before me as a path towards my beginning,
I see You in the loses I have and will receive,
I know that my weeping will only endure a while.
As I realize that my joy is near,
My soul cries out – Let this be the night oh Lord! Let this be the night.

I seek only to trust You – relying not on my understanding,
But on the wisdom that comes from the One who created the heavens and the earth,
I am no longer consumed with hate,
Vengeance is replaced with forgiveness,
I am moved from this valley of despair to a mountain top of peace.
As I realize that it is the peace only You can give,
My soul cries out – Let this be the night oh Lord! Let this be the night.

I will tarry from midnight to the break of dawn,
I wait upon You oh Lord,
For there is no path I wish to take – except to walk in Your loving presence.
I seek solace and redemption – for no more can I go on.
As I stand still and look up to the heavens,
My soul cries out words that my heart conceives,
“Only You Lord can save me. Let this be the night oh Lord I surrender all! Let this be the night.”

The Course of Justice

Prophet Isaiah sums up Jesus’ work when he says, “He is the servant chosen for the course of Justice.” (Isaiah 42:1-4)

Jesus has come to tell the world the real meaning of Justice. That is truth in action! He publicly demonstrates this even to his adversaries. According to Martin Luther King Jr., “the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nations until the bright day of justice emerges.”

Ours is a society where justice has been dethroned and injustice enthroned. It is an indubitable truth that the tree of justice and peace can only grow when and where the trees of tyranny are poisoned by the blood of men of sacrifice like our heroes of faith. Never say what can I do? Since I can’t beat them, I must join them. Do you remember the woe that lies in bed for those planning mischief? Wash your heart and hands of those terrible deeds of yours. Naked we came to the world and naked we shall return (Job 1:21)

Ponder on the reality that confronts every living creature. Justice without compromise is a watch-word. Do not manipulate anybody to enrich yourself. The Lord will always fight for the course of justice of the oppressed and the lowly. Join in this holy battle against injustice that is taking over our days.

Nothing can limit you if you are determined to act justly.

Small Beginnings

It is a fact of history that the greatest things most times have small beginnings. Many great and memorable ideas began with small things. The idea of cultivation, reformation and so on began with a very small beginning. the witness of God grows until its growth and the kingdom of earth becomes the kingdom of God.

Whoever has a larger conception of his possibilities, a larger faith in self. A larger faith in attainment, is bound to accomplish infinitely more than those who depend on their seemingly more favorable assets; wealth; influence or position for their success. Christianity began from the smallest beginning; but today, it has transformed the lives of many.

Jesus lived like a common man but His life influenced many lives. Although a drop in an ocean may be a little, it makes the magnanimity of the ocean. There is no small act of kindness. Just do it and you can never tell how far it goes for the recipient. May God help us to see Him in our smallest beginnings. Amen.

Remain Blessed.

My Resolution

It is the beginning of the New Year and everyone I know has their New Year resolution drawn up. To me resolutions is about admitting to yourself and to your God that there is a problem that needs to be fixed; a situation that needs to be addressed or corrected, a particular endeavor you want to undertake. It involves a self-reflection on the part of the one making such resolutions. Following the bandwagon of resolution writers, I wrote mine.

Here is one of my resolutions for this year. In this case it is neither a problem nor a situation rather it is an endeavor and it is based on the scripture Matt 12: 36,

But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” KJV

I want to be able to look back twelve months from now and see that the words I spoke or the words I wrote was to the glory of God and the edification of men..No more idle words…

What a feat that would be…(smiling)

Who Are You?

For us Christians, when we remember certain individuals in the bible there are certain words that come to our mind as regards who they were.

For example:

Judas Iscariot  a Betrayer

Cain a murderer

Abraham the father of faith

Jonathan a noble hero

David the man after God’s heart……

The list is endless so I will stop.

As a person and a child of God what defines you?

Are you a confidant? The type of person someone can talk to, share secrets with without fear that one day all that they told you would be on another’s person lips?

Are you the type of person that allows anger to rule your every action?

Are you a liar, a cheat, a drunk or are you a noble hero, a man or woman after God’s heart, a man or woman of faith?

The list is endless with the vice and virtues each of us can either embrace or reject.

As I am about to enter into a new year, personally I am taking the time to find out who I am as a person so that I even in my absence someone can say.

“I know who she is and she is………..(hopefully by His grace I pray they will say nice things.)”

For anyone reading this, I ask a simple question who are you?

Faith the Substance of…

Hello everyone, I just want to scribble down more inspirational quotes I have read this month.

It’s was becoming difficult for a while to believe in the things I was hoping for . I  needed to take a deep breath, listen, read and be inspired by the Holy Spirit through the scriptures and the words of men that I should not to lose faith. For as a believer we walk by faith and not by sight. 2Corinthians 5:7

I have retraced my steps and I am walking on the path of faith.

Am I succeeding? Yes I believe so.

For if I was not succeeding, I will not be writing this.

So I want to share some of the scripture and words that helped me.

Maybe someone out there is going through what I went through. Doubting themselves and losing faith because the things they desired, prayed and hoped for still have not materialized.

These are very simple but powerful words that have motivated me and helped “ginger” my faith in God.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

“Faith is what will carry you beyond the garment of human understanding.”

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

-Martin Luther King, Jr

“God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow or sun without rain but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.”

“I don’t pray for God to take my problems away, I pray only for God to give me the strength to go through them.”
– Jose Lozano

Don’t lose faith. God is on His throne and He is working everything out for your good.

I know I said at the beginning  that I wanted to scribble some inspirational quotes. Ooops! Sorry! I got carried away…….(winks)

Pride goes before destruction, an arrogant spirit before a fall (Prov 16:18)

No one is as empty as those who are full of themselves!

Some people are like cocks that think the sun has risen to hear them crow.

As Christians we must learn to swallow our pride occasionally.Try it, it will never give you indigestion.

Do not let us be too big to do little things willingly, so that we are not too little to be trusted with big things.

All we need is a child-like heart and an innocent mind for we are mere instruments in the hands of the Creator.

Empty your cup of pride so that Christ may refill you.

An already filled cup needs no more; but as soon as we empty it, there is more space to accommodate more contents.

Be open to knowledge; it is only fools who think that knowledge belongs to them alone. Indeed those who are swimming in pride are in the best position to remain static; since they are not ready to learn anything new from others.

The wise ones know the limit of their knowledge and are always ready to learn.

Always bear in mind that “disgrace always accompanies pride, wisdom resides with the humble (Prov 11:2)
