Mine is All Rounder!! Yipppe
For a while now, I have been busy with a lot of personal projects that I have not had time to update this blog as I would have loved to.
I am sorry about that. My neglect makes me wonder about the true reason why I blog?
Truthfully, at the beginning it was about my writing. About me creating a platform to meet and share me work with individuals. I wanted to share my story.
Blogging to me then was like an advertisement. I had a product to sell(my books) and I needed an avenue to show case that.
However, after a few weeks it became more than that. My story started changing. I fell in love with writing out scriptures and inspirational quotes that moved me emotionally.. It felt like I was writing a message.. It no longer became about my books, it was now about the WORD. About a desire to touch just one person out there who takes out time to read what I have written.
So now, after a year of blogging I ask myself – what is my story? If someone was to talk about me, my books or my blog, what would they say?
I remember Ruth 2: 11, Boaz said, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband….”
The emphasis here are the words used by Boaz.. ‘I have been told’
Just like the story of Ruth was told to Boaz because of her good deeds, I want my story to be told not because I can write a book or string a few words cohesively. No, I want my story to be told because I have touched a life..
That my dear friends is the story I desire and hopefully with His help I will have it..
What story would you like to be said about you?

Red roses were her favorites,
Her name was also Rose,
And every year her husband sent them,
tied with pretty bows.
The year he died,
the roses were delivered to her door.
The card said, “Be my Valentine,”
like all the years before.
Each year he sent her roses,
and the note would always say,
“I love you even more this year,
than last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow,
with every passing year.”
She knew this was the last time
that the roses would appear.
She thought, he ordered roses
in advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know,
that he would pass away.
He always liked things early,
way before the time.
Then if he got too busy,
everything would work out fine.
She trimmed the stems,
and placed them in a very special vase.
Then, sat the vase
beside the portrait of his smiling face.
She would sit for hours,
in her husband’s favorite chair.
While staring at his picture,
and the roses sitting there.
A year went by,
and it was hard to live without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude,
that had become her fate.
Then that very hour,
as on Valentine’s before,
The doorbell rang, and there were roses,
sitting by her door.
She brought the roses in,
and just looked at them in shock.
Then, she went to get the telephone,
to call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and she asked him,
if he would explain,
Why would someone do this to her,
causing her such pain?
“I know your husband passed away,
more than a year ago,”
The owner said, “I knew you’d call,
and you would want to know.
The flowers you received today,
were paid for in advance,
your husband always planned ahead,
he left nothing to chance.
There is a standing order,
that I have on file down here,
as he has paid, well in advance,
you’ll get them every year.
There is also another thing,
that I think you should know,
He wrote a special little card…he did this years ago,
Then should I find out that he’s no longer here,
That’s the card…that should be sent to you the following year.”
She thanked him and hung up the phone,
her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly
reached to get the card.
Inside the card, she saw that he
had written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence,
this is what he wrote…
“Hello my love, I know
it’s been a year since I’ve been gone,
I hope it hasn’t been too hard
for you to overcome.
I know it must be lonely,
and the pain is very real.
Or if it was the other way,
I know how I would feel.
The love we shared made everything
so beautiful in life,
I loved you more than words can say,
you were the perfect wife.
You were my friend and lover,
you fulfilled my every need.
I know it’s only been a year,
but please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy,
even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses
will be sent to you for years.
When you get these roses,
think of all the happiness,
that we had together,
and how both of us were blessed.
I have always loved you,
and you know I always will.
But my love, you must go on,
you have some living still.
Please… try to find happiness,
while living out your days.
I know it is not easy,
but I hope you find some ways.
The roses will come every year,
and they will only stop,
When your door’s not answered,
when the florist stops to knock.
He will come five times that day,
in case you have gone out.
But after his last visit,
he will know without a doubt.
To take the roses to the place,
where I’ve instructed him.
And place them where we are,
together once again.
Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop;
Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you that there really is
an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

When you start comparing yourself to other writers, their books or book deals you’re going down a dark path. Here are my tips to avoid jealousy when it creeps in.
WHEN YOU START COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHER WRITERS…
1. Remember they started somewhere too. You might be seeing them at a different point in their career. I love this quote from Jon Acuff because it’s SO TRUE. If you’re at the beginning and you are comparing yourself to someone in the middle of their career–there is no comparison! Apples and oranges.
2. It should spur you on to think ‘If they can do it, so can I!’ Don’t let jealousy stop you from trying. When you see other writers getting deals it shouldn’t make you think ‘Why them and not me!’ It…

Value What You Have – – – The Song of the Birds story
The owner of a small business, a friend of the poet Olavo Bilac, met him on the street and asked him: “Mr.Bilac, I need to sell my small farm, the one you know so well. Could you please write an announcement for me for the paper?”
Bilac wrote: “For Sale, a beautiful property, where birds sing at dawn in extensive woodland, bisected by the brilliant and sparkling waters of a large stream. The house is bathed by the rising sun. It offers tranquil shade in the evenings on the veranda.”
Some time later, the poet met his friend and asked whether he had sold the property? To which he replied: “I’ve changed my mind when I read what you had written, I realized the treasure that was mine.”
Appreciate What You Have
Sometimes we underestimate the good things we have, chasing after the miracles of false treasures. We often see people letting go of their children, families, spouses, friends, profession, their knowledge – accumulated over many years, their good health & all the good things in life. They throw out the window what God has given them, so freely! Things which were nourished with so much care & effort.
Look around, appreciate what you have: your home, loved ones, friends whom you can really count, the knowledge you have gained, your good health & all the beautiful things of life, that are truly your most precious treasure. We can no longer shower kindness on those we love after they have died. It is useless to want to re-do the work that we may have done negligently. It’s best to appreciate and do things well now!
Ask God at every moment that our problems & concerns never degenerate into feelings of sadness & anxiety. “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) Be in union with God, who will provide the courage needed to be certain of victory in the struggle, cause God will give with abundance what we need.
We are all imperfect. Always praise & value your loved ones. Do all you can to make it even better. See what you can do to improve your environment instead of complaining. Instead of isolating yourself, because of weakness or failure, seek to invest in true & constructive friendship in your life.
Faith in God is necessary to strengthen self-esteem, in dealing with daily problems.
BE WITH GOD & MAY GOD BE WITH YOU!
1. We all travel different roads to our ultimate destinations. For some of us the path is rockier than for others. But no one reaches the end without feeling some form of adversity. So rather than fight it, why not accept it as the way of life? Why not detach yourself from the outcomes and simply experience every circumstance that enters your life to the fullest?
2. If you have never visited the valleys, the view from the mountain top is not breathtaking.
3. Remember, there are no real failures in life, only results. There are no true tragedies, only lessons. And there are no problems, only opportunities waiting to be recognized as solutions by the person of wisdom.
4. Time is your most precious commodity and yet most of us live our lives as if we have all the time in the world.

What is fear? Oxford Dictionary defines it as “an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. It can also be defined as “the likelihood of something unwelcome happening.”
Man is greater than fear. Everyone has a fear. Some are afraid of heights, others are afraid of darkness, while some fear spiders. Fear becomes a monster. The issue now becomes how we handle our fears. Do we let it control us to the point where it causes a dilapidating effect on our lives?
Someone said, “Man is greater than fear. If you tell yourself that you cannot overcome it, it means that you have allowed fear to have a domineering power over you.”
How then do we face this monster called fear. it is my embracing another fear.
This type of fear makes us to reverence. This is not an unpleasant emotion rather it is a feeling of great awe, a feeling that brings from within a great desire to please our Creator. An emotion that helps us erase and overcome every other type of fear and this is the FEAR OF GOD.
Oswald Chambers said: “The remarkable thing about fearing God is that, when you fear God, you fear nothing else; whereas, if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.”
“Life is too short to be little.” – Disraeli
Friends never allow yourselves to be upset by trivial matters you ought to despise and forget. … “Your time on earth is limited” At most we may have 10, 20, 30,…100 more years to be around. Why lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances, lost opportunities, crying over relationships that didn’t work after we did all we could etc, that in a month’s, year’s time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody?
No, let us devote our lives to worth-while actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring causes.
“For life is too short to be little.” Be great! Live your greatest life!
It is the beginning of the New Year and everyone I know has their New Year resolution drawn up. To me resolutions is about admitting to yourself and to your God that there is a problem that needs to be fixed; a situation that needs to be addressed or corrected, a particular endeavor you want to undertake. It involves a self-reflection on the part of the one making such resolutions. Following the bandwagon of resolution writers, I wrote mine.
Here is one of my resolutions for this year. In this case it is neither a problem nor a situation rather it is an endeavor and it is based on the scripture Matt 12: 36,
“But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” KJV
I want to be able to look back twelve months from now and see that the words I spoke or the words I wrote was to the glory of God and the edification of men..No more idle words…
What a feat that would be…(smiling)
