Have you as a child of God ever felt like the sorrow in your heart is almost crushing you? You are not alone, you know! Jesus Christ your Lord and savior went through the same thing. Don’t Believe?? Then Read.
Grief and anguish came over him and he said to them, “the sorrow in my heart is so great that it almost crushes me….” Matt 26:37-38.
Christ even though he was God felt anguish and grief just like us. Gethsemane can be regarded as the path Christ had to take before he could face and accept his cross, a cross that culminated in the glorious gift of life.
Everything good and beautiful is promised to us through Christ Jesus, but in order for us to possess our possessions, we as Christians pass through many Gethsemane. Doing what Christ did helps with the grief and sorrow. What did he do?
He went a little further on, threw himself face down downwards on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible take this cup of suffering from me, yet not what I want, but what you want.” Matt 26:39
He prayed and asked not for what he wants but for what God wants to be done. Christ death on the cross is the ultimate act of love. Suffering without love is empty, love without suffering is nothing, but love with suffering is what makes us experience the beauty of Christ gift; life and life more abundantly. Just think you are walking the path that leads to abundance and God’s grace.
